A tri top has never been this comfortably fast Tri fashion (and the wind tunnel) have pushed toward short-sleeve tops, but we think there's still a place for the traditional sleeveless top. This is a modern interpretation of the wind shell jacket, the one you keep in your pocket for a long descent or put on for the first hour of the ride until the day warms up. That jacket used to be a simple affair — a nylon shell — but the lack of stretch meant that it had to be cut on the generous side to fit all body shapes, both on and off the bike. We've completely reimagined what the shell jacket should be and how it's constructed. We've added panels on the sides and the sleeves in a very high-stretch yet tightly knit fabric that allows us to give the jacket a modern, close-to-body fit for aero gains on any terrain, and it actually keeps more heat in than a jacket that's flapping about. We've kept it very compact so that it can pack away into minimal space in a jersey pocket. New giro4 leg grippers hold the longer legs in place without riding up. For the swim we've made the short smoother through the water, and the back pocket will lie flat to avoid catching water. The snaplock closure clips to your Castelli top to keep it from riding up. On the run, the short basically disappears. We don't recommend this for long or even medium-length rides in full sun, but this is the best option we know of for those evening rides in the hottest days of summer, or if you're trying to even out your tan. The Entrata Thermal Glove focuses on the essential elements of a winter cycling glove. We made the outer layer both windproof for warmth and stretchy for comfort. Then we added a layer of PrimaLoft insulation and an inner layer of lightly brushed fleece. This construction makes the glove insanely soft inside. The ideal tight for most of your winter riding, the Velocissimo is focused on comfort for riding in mild to cool conditions. We've used our Thermoflex fabric for most of the tight. It's not our warmest fabric, nor does it repel water like Nano Flex, but it is the softest, stretchiest winter tight fabric. The comfort is immediate and lasting. For the lower leg from just below the knee, we switch to our Nano Flex fleeced stretch-woven fabric that's both warm and highly water repellent for protection against spray coming off wet roads. It's also highly stretchy, and we leave a raw edge so we can construct the ankles without zippers while making sure the tight remains easy to put on and take off. The first aero jersey project was called Split Second When Castelli engineered the first aero jersey for road racing back in 2006, everyone thought we were crazy. Back then, aero was only for TTS. Performance clothing meant moisture management. And you could win the Tour de France with a baggy jersey that was little more than a polyester t-shirt. Even our aerodynamic consultants expected limited gains, so we named the jersey split second, though, like now, we thought even small gains were worth pursuing. In the end the gains were pretty substantial, and we completely revolutionized the look of the pro peloton. We're now on the sixth major revision of our aero jersey. Each generation has become more aero and better fitting. The aero race 6. 0 benefits heavily from CFD analysis of wake flow in the riding position for fabric and seam placement. It also benefits from pro riders' feedback, as we've worked to make the jersey comfortable for their long hours of training and then racing in every possible weather condition. It's an old trick to wear a great bibshort underneath a tight or bibtight without a seat pad to give two layers over the sensitive bits, and this tight lets you avoid having double straps over your shoulders. This jacket does three things really well: the Tempesta Stretch fabric provides full waterproof protection, the four-way stretch makes it fit any body type, and it looks great on and off the bike. Compared with our more expensive GORE-TEX Idro jackets, you give up the best-in-class breathability and extreme packability, but you gain a stretch fit and increased durability. We developed the fabric to our own specifications to make a jacket that is fully waterproof, comfortably stretchy, packable enough to fit in a jersey pocket, and with an appearance and hand that make it look great. This is meant to be a rain shell worn over a jersey, so we've forgone the external pockets and kept the construction simple to minimize seams. And now for something totally different. We've created a performance jacquard-knit fabric. It took a while to get there because we weren't willing to compromise fit, stretch, moisture management or comfort. It still feels like a Castelli jersey, but with the design actually integrated into the fabric.
