Our People

Kenny   Founder

Describe yourself in three words:

 Structured. Determined. Kind.

What sets Placid Planet apart from the typical bike shop?: Everyone at Placid Planet is into what they do and they enjoy sharing that passion with others. Also, we use quality repair parts - the kind you don't see but they make subtle improvements in your bike such as slick stainless steel cables and teflon lined housings. We even talc tubes!

If you were a bicycle, what part would you be? I'd be a derailleur because I could make  life easier or harder. I would not want to be a bottom bracket. They get blamed for so many things they didn't do.

Where would you like to travel? I love going to Europe, but I would enjoy going almost anywhere.

When I’m not riding my bike I am alpine skiing.

Fun facts? In one day I logged 63,000 vertical feet skiing at Whiteface. When I was 5, I rode my 20” single speed Huffy 25 miles.

What’s the favorite part of your job? Working some miracle on a bike to get the rider to their starting line. Or solving a problem on a bike that has stumped lots of other techs.

Julie   Janitorial Strategist

What sets Placid Planet apart from the typical bike shop?

Dream bike: A gravel bike. It's about time. Probably a nice Aspero. A super nice Aspero. Almost as nice as Kenny's.

If you were a bicycle, what part would you be? I know what I would not be - any part of an Ironman bike.

Where would you like to travel? Yes. I like to explore new places and revisit the familiar. Next up for new places is Mongolia. I enjoy people photography along the way.

Do you cook? I love to cook and am pretty comfortable as long as it doesn't involve yeast or a rolling pin.

Favorite food or cuisine: Asian.

Tatyana

Other days: People pleaser. Passive agressive. Sarcastic.

Eight tracks, a book and a luxury: what would you take to a desert island? Lake Street Dive (Band), The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society (very British), toothbrush

Anything else you would like to add? I literally love my women's mountain bike group, I can be having a bad day and going out with a bunch of rad women on a Thursday night changes that every single time.

Dream bike: S-Works Tarmac SL8

If you were a bicycle, what part would you be? I would be a Reverb because sometimes I work and sometimes I don't.

What's the favorite part of your job? I love working with my hands and finding creative solutions to problems.

Favorite wood: Aspen because of the way it is.

When I was a kid I wanted to be: a professional wrestler

What’s the favorite part of your job?Learning all things bike. It’s great to be in the industry and trying to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Matt

Describe yourself in three words.

Housebroken. Handsome. Happy.

What sets Placid Planet apart from the typical bike shop? The large selection of bikes from various brands! We sell brands that we believe in and have a bike to fit everyone’s needs.

Where would you like to travel? The Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. I’d like to sit at the edge and romanticize my melancholic solitude.

Eight tracks, a book and a luxury: what would you take to a desert island? Adele’s 30, Aurelius’ Meditations, and my house slippers.

If you were a bicycle, what part would you be? The chain. I work better when I’m waxed.

Favorite food or cuisine? Lasagna, without question. It tastes great and has silly spelling. Bonus points if someone made it for me, extra bonus points if that someone is my mom.
